Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti celebration at Golden Bells

MOHALI, APRIL 14

Golden Bells Public School, Sector – 77, Mohali celebrated ‘Baisakhi’, a festival associated with the harvesting and ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’, birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with gusto and gaiety. The students spoke on the life history of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. To commemorate the birth of Khalsa Panth, five religious students were traditionally dressed as ‘Panj Piaras’, who recited verses from scriptures.
Poem recitation competition was held and through poems, students depicted that this festival stand fro the dawn of the New Year in Northern India. Turban tying competition foe senior class boys and Drawing competition for junior classes were held. Manavgeet Singh of Class-X sang a melodious song related to occasion. Students were shown the harvesting of crops also. School’s Bhangra team performed an energetic Bhangra.
At last, the chairman of the school spoke on the importance of the day and encouraged students to perpetuate the traditions and customs of the festivals. He gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions.
